Usually, those who are with their loved ones have really fantastic festive seasons, especially during Christmas or New Year's Eve. You know, the guy will plan everything for that whole day and everything should be as wonderful as things should be.

There were nice fireworks shooting up into the beautiful night sky to welcome the new year, but I wasn't there to see it. It's a once-in-a-year thing and this was my first time spending New Year's Eve here. Well, I didn't have a nice one this year. The previous ones I had with my family back home were better.

The nice evening, delicious dinner, after-dinner activities, wonderful countdown with the crowd, fabulous and romantic fireworks, and all other wonderful moments for December 31, 2011 didn't happen. Yay.

I hoped and hoped that this New Year's Eve would add at least a little bit of joy to my following bloody 10 weeks, but it didn't. The whole 12-week period is meant to be... like that.

Some of my new year's resolution:

Improve my EQ
Learn to really expect less
And most importantly... Find the right track for myself

世上沒有免費午餐，當然，也沒有免費晚餐。

這是真理。而有很多人，都是不明白真理的。

例如有位朋友最近跟一位追求者第一次出去約會，也不算是很正式的「我們是男女朋友」的那種，只是吃個飯傾個偈互相了解一下。

飯吃到一半，朋友就已深感中伏，這個男的好像是上天派下來跟她作對似的，他們在每一個話題上面都有極端相反的意見，哪套戲好看啦今年的視帝該頒給誰啦哪個政黨是最無恥啦周一嶽唱歌好唔好聽啦等等等等，她說東他總會說西，而且是真心地說西。

她用「以後不再跟這人聯絡」的心來吃完下半餐飯，叫埋單時，男人拿出電話開了計數機app──大家心照了，他也大概覺得「呢條女溝到都冇幸福」吧，所以打算飯錢除二。朋友見狀立即說「不如我請」，男人竟然說：「好！」

OK，普通朋友出來食飯，Dutch date是絕對沒問題的，問題是，你而家嚟溝我、發現唔啱嘴型/自覺應該溝唔到，便想改行AA制？

男女平等在其他地方體現就足夠了，在某些情況，男人還是要表現出應有的風度來。

但現今世代，你還期望有幾多男人知道「風度」？他還說「好」呢！

另外一個朋友，她男友的小家是出了名的，別說平時了，連她生日呀聖誕呀這些日子，吃飯慶祝也是AA制的。OK你可以話「我鬼仔性格，鬼仔都係鍾意AA嘅」；可是呢，他在生日前呀聖誕前呀，都會明示（對，是明示）女友該送甚麼禮物給自己要請自己去哪裡吃飯。

這是哪門子的鬼仔性格？是衰格的鬼仔性格！

後來兩人分了手，她才說之前為了保住男友面子所以沒跟我們呻──這幾年來他們連開房也是AA制的，你付一次我付一次。有不下十幾次，輪到他付房錢，他不知是特登還是大頭蝦啦，銀包裡面只有幾十塊錢囉。女友墊完他又不了了之，下次又是女的付錢。

他大概是想「你都有高潮吖！你都有爽到吖！爽唔使俾錢呀？」

其實單憑這一點，就應該早早把這貨掃地出門。

這已不是男女平不平等的問題。除非是女的包養男的，否則兩個人去開房，錢一定要男人付。
就算是女的先說要去，也要由男人俾錢。

如果連這點也不堅持的話，你一生都會栽在男人手上，男人不會尊重你，會四處說「我條女俾埋錢我同佢去爆房」，你們因錢銀嘈交時會說「房錢你都肯出啦借幾皮嘢俾我有乜所謂啫？」
平時buy him a dinner沒所謂，買衫買鞋買褲給他沒所謂，分擔他的房租水電煤費也可以，但某些費用，女人要緊緊守好自己的銀包。

這是真理，女人們好好記住了。

I may be a unique girl, but yes, like some others, I like the Twilight saga (and different people like it for different reasons). After all, most girls love to see hot guys and there is one (or maybe a few) in the Twilight saga. Guys, don't say we're crazy for the Twilight movies, because you guys go crazy for hot and sexy girls too :)

What's more fabulous than going to the cinema to see the hottest guy (I mean Taylor, not Rob) on the big big screen?

Oh my goodness, the dull life was lightened up a bit tonight. I can't believe it Taylor took off his shirt just at the beginning of the movie (I pity the ones sitting next to us who came in soooo late that they missed one of the best parts), but that's the one and only time we got to see his hot body in the entire movie. Taylor Lautner is just too hot and mark my words, he might be the next Brad Pitt.

Rob was portrayed as a way-too-emotional guy in the movie. ~~She~~ (ooops) He looks more like a girl when you always see the melancholy in his face, and... his hair.

The movie was 2 hours long but it didn't feel like 2 hours. The critics who commented so negatively are most probably those who just broke up, or those who hate wolves and/or vampires, or those who hate romance, or those who have suffered from a bad marriage, or those who are biased, or those who were in a bad mood the day they watched the movie :P

I missed the scenes after the credits roll AGAIN. Last time was the one for the Pirates of the Caribbean, and this time, ARGH.

I am so looking forward to the next movie (and sadly, the final one).

P.S. Taylor Lautner is the hottest guy ever.

I can't believe what happened to me this morning. For once, I woke up early and still had time to have breakfast and surfed the Internet. All of a sudden I saw something falling down from the air conditioner. Out of curiosity or the urge to pick up the rubbish dropped, I left my chair and walked nearer.

A LIZARD.

Oh what the heck! It was about time to leave the hostel and go for class and the whole world knows I'm freaking scared of lizards. And for goodness sake it fell off the air-con just a few minutes before I should go to uni. While trying to calm myself, I walked nearer and saw it still, not moving. The lizard was lying in the area where I placed my suitcases and it's difficult for me to get myself to that area as the clever management placed the wardrobe and desk to intentionally isolate that square area.

I moved the small suitcase away and all of a sudden, IT MOVED. OMFG. It went under my big suitcase. And I kinda screamed. I almost never scream unless I'm on a ride or whatever but this time it really scared me suddenly. Having taken all things I needed for class (my bag, water bottle, shoes, everything) and placed them in the living room, I took up the insect spray and aimed the tiny space between the bottom of my suitcase and the floor. OMG WTF it was trying to escape and I couldn't let it run to some place where I couldn't see! Time was running out and I had to do something or it might just crawl to anywhere and pop out someday later to scare the hell out of me...! Having a plastic bag and a paper towel in my left hand, I sprayed and sprayed. Why was it still moving? I almost suffocated with the smell of the insect PLUS the almost-heart-attack I got from the lizard.

I couldn't wait any longer though I was freaking frightened. I needed to go to class because the revision lecture was today! While it was still moving, I sprayed with one hand, and got hold of the damned lizard with the other hand and OMFG it was still moving and I saw its head and eye OMFG.

This thing's nothing more but a nightmare which came to life! I went to the washroom to wash my hands and OMFG I saw my lips in the mirror and... my lips were all WHITE.

I hate lizards, I really do hate them.

Upgraded my phone to the hot-and-delicious iOS 5.

Nope, I didn't lose all my contacts. Yeah, all you need to do is to get all your contacts in a place (I personally use Google).

Freaked out for a moment or two when I couldn't find where to ZOOM while taking pictures, and I was stupid enough to think that Apple'd forgotten the zoom function. Thank God, the zoom function is still here, but just a different way to get it to zoooooom.

The new notification area is awesome. It could have been better if I didn't own the Samsung Galaxy S so this notification thingy would be a brand new thing :\

Lost Contacts in iOS 5?

The iOS 5 has (finally) been launched on October 12 and many of my friends have already got the new OS on their iPhones. A couple of them have been panicking and regretting, not because of the functioning of the new OS, but the lost of every single contacts and apps installed.

Personally, I haven't upgraded my phone to iOS 5 yet because iTunes store has actually been blocked by the people in my 5-star hostel (They're blocking iTunes U where so many educational stuffs are available).

Being so eager to get iOS 5 and not wanting to lose my contacts, I started googling for solutions.

Syncing the contacts with Google (or other places) first maybe a good idea, rather than backing them up just in iTunes.

I love watching dramas at home non-stop but today, it's MOVIE MARATHON in a cinema!

First, Taylor Lautner's (the hottest guy ever) new movie - Abduction:

The beginning of Abduction wasn't very interesting and promising, but as the movie progressed, it got better. A perfect movie for Lautner's fans :)

It's really heartbreaking to know that a teacher of mine has passed away, and what's even saddening, she's still so young, so pretty, and so kind. I still, still couldn't believe what had happened, not until I saw the Facebook statuses of my friends, and the comments on the Events wall by my school mates.

You have been such an excellent teacher and we will never forget you, and of course, your sweet smile. I have always remembered how you asked us to focus in class, your accent, your unique way of talking to us, and your expression. It is heartbreaking to know that you are gone and I don't even know when was the last time we met, but your smile will forever be in my heart. May you rest in peace.

I have always called her by her first name behind her when I was her student. The number of times I called her 'Mimi Lau' is far much more than the times I actually addressed her 'Miss Lau'.

Dinner Buffet at Tao @ Sunway Giza

My first time to Sunway Giza - another part of the Sunway Kingdom.

This is Sunway Giza.

The buffet style in Tao is different from normal buffet. They actually have a menu, and their staff will tell you what dishes are on their Top 10. You can roam freely and get food in the buffet section as well as ordering food from the menu.

The first ranked abalone on their menu (I don't like the sauce).

Another dish on their Top 10. It looks like beef but it's actually lamb. (Awesome!)

Crab Meat in Cheese (The whole filling is basically cheese).

What a strategy. They must have been top students of Mr. David.

There isn't much in the buffet section. There also isn't many choices for drinks, as well as ice cream.

The old plastic cup made the ice cream look cheap.

There are some awesome dishes here in Tao (the best dish is the lamb), but the food selection is really very very very limited. It's also not surprising to see empty plates in the buffet section, they just don't restock that soon. What's worth mentioning is their very friendly staff.

If there's no promotion, the chance of me going again is almost zero. By the way, if any of you wants to try it out, you can get a 50% discount if you go during your birthday month.

I ♥ Tenji and Jogoya. If you're a real buffet person like me, Tenji or Jogoya will be a better choice :D

Alkoholfri (Non-alcoholic) Pear Sparkling Juice is nice! (And I love the can.)

Not the best pasta I've had. Not the worst either because Ming Tian has the worst pasta.

Fish and Chips. Worth mentioning.

The fish tastes better without the deep-fried area. What's worth mentioning is the chips. They remind me of the chips in a burger restaurant near UNSW, named Portogali. Portogali has the best chips in town, with the special yellow powder they add in their chips. The chips here in Ikea taste the same except the part with the powder. Oh I miss Portogali.

And if you're wondering why didn't I try the famous meatballs in Ikea, well, I don't eat beef :)

And when was my first visit to the cinema? I can't remember but it should be some time between my 2nd or 3rd year in primary school.

A Day to be Forever Remembered

I can never forget this day, April 12th 2011.

2.30am
I was sitting alone in my room in the hostel, about to finish the last sentence of my tutorial. Suddenly I heard noises, wing flapping noises. I turned and looked up to the direction where the sound came from, and I saw two cockroaches playing around happily on the black air-con plastic pipe, chasing each other. I'm really no fan of insects, and now you're telling me that there're TWO BIG COCKROACHES in my room in the middle of the night when everyone is asleep? Tears came down and I opened the door, hoping the cockroaches could just go and leave me alone.

2.32am
They weren't leaving. Luckily my classmate (who is also my housemate), Mei Hui, hadn't gone to bed and was just coming out to use the bathroom. She's so brave and kind to spray and kill the two big cockroaches for me and even helped me pick them up and threw away. I was so scared at that moment but at the same time, so touched that I had such a wonderful and helpful friend.

6.50am
Opened my eyes, still lying on the bed. What did I hear? Wing flapping noise again. Oh no, not huge cockroaches again. Looked up, saw a bee or a giant ant with wings. Having seen the power of the cockroach spray a few hours ago, I immediately grabbed the spray and aimed at the insect. I had insect spray for late supper and breakfast.

During the workshop hour
Talked for almost the whole company law workshop because the lecturer just didn't come for class (or maybe there wasn't supposed to be a workshop at that hour).

My heart kind of sank. My heart kind of broke.

One of my all-time favourite Japanese snacks - Maison de Kukkia! These are chocolate filled cookies (more to the pancake side). They have four flavours, which are all good :)

I'm so glad that mum put these in my suitcase so now I could enjoy them. Sadly I guess this remaining box is going to be last one in the coming 30 years (or more) because of the contaminated water and soil in Japan due to the nuclear accident. I'll just need to control the intake of the made-in-Japan-food.
